Blanket Stand

Here are a few recent builds. We’ve had our blankets stored in a bin on the floor for several years. For years it has kind of been a nuisance because our kids don’t really fold them when putting them back, they just stuff them in.

The turning point came when a huge spider crawled out of the bin a few months ago and sped across our 1 year old–yep, time for something new!

I grew up with a mother that loved to sew and quilt, so we had a few quilt stands that I remember as a kid. I had some scrap wood from a demo job that worked perfectly for the stand.

This project wasn’t all that difficult, but I (not for the first time) learned that using reclaimed wood comes with a lot of sanding, and since I don’t own a plaining machine, it took most of my time building just to prepare the wood. It doesn’t exactly excite me to use reclaimed wood, but when you have a tight budget, it is one way to get the work done.
