I got the idea for this project from One Minute Workbench, and expanded his plans a little to accommodate a few different tools. Under the table saw is housing for a vacuum and a 3 gallon compressor. In the future I plan to run some PVC for the vacuum to attach to the table saw with a valve as well as the table saw and attachments for other power tools.
I tried to come up with a better solution for the router table–maybe a shelf on a lever that pushes it out and up to the table hight so that I can leave it fixed in place. If you’ve got a suggestion for any other that, I would welcome the ideas. At first I didn’t think that I would use the clamp holes on each corner of the bench, but I have already used them quite a bit, and I’m glad I put them on.
The miter saw will be on a lazy susan and have locking mechanisms in place to keep it from going back and forth or spinning.
The heavy duty castors make it easy to pull away from the side wall for working, and locking the bench in place, then putting it back on the side wall for more space in the garage. And because I have three small children, I love that the power strip has switches for each outlet. Having power switch keys for each power tool is nice, but I’ve had those break in the past, and I hate not having a central place to store them that is both accessible to me, but out of reach for children, so the power strip with switches is a win for me.
